Physical Education
Instructor: Mrs. Baker

Physical Education at SRAA is a vital and exciting part of your child’s education.  It should contribute to the personal, social, cognitive, and physical development of your child in the way that no other class can.  My goal is for every child to develop the skills needed to be physically active as children and as adults!

Please check out our blog site for additional info on PE   http://sraape.wordpress.com/

March Madness
As March approaches I am getting our students ready for basketball season!  The children are learning about dribbling, passing, and shooting.
K-2 - These grade levels are learning basic ball handling skills as well as to dribble under control both stationary and whlie moving.  Their main objective is to be able to dribble a ball while being able to keep their head up using both their dominant and non-dominant hand.  They will also be learning basic defensive skills to protect their ball from a defencder.

3-5   These grade levels have pretty much mastered dribbling so we are moving on to passing (both chest and bounce) and shooting.  The students are learning to shoot with correct form (one handed) and from various distances and heights.  They will be playing simple games to help reinforce the skills learned.
December is all about Gymnastics!!!
This month our students have been learning the basic movement forms of tumbling, balancing, and sequencing.  The students have learned three very basic rolls (egg, pencil, and forward) and learned how to put their bodies in various shapes.  Students applied their science and math skills to integrate what shapes will roll better and how to make their bodies round to roll!  The students are also working on creating a five part performance that will be performed as part of their final grade.
